Do you remember when you were a kid and playing down by a stream and thought, let’s build a bridge! So... construction began, branches and rocks and whatever else you could find were pieced together over the stream. It was so satisfying when it worked!
The construction of bridges is a remarkable sight to see. It seems to me that there isn’t just one method of building either.
When I was praying about what to write today, I felt like the Lord said, “I am The bridge builder”. I had to ask Him, Lord, how are you a bridge builder?
I think of Him as my deliverer, my redeemer and so much more, but my bridge builder? That has not crossed my mind.
He reminded me of the power of His love living in me and in you. His love can build a bridge between us and people that are hard to love or are very different from us. His love can allow compassion and kindness to bloom when we feel very little of it.
He can build a bridge to people we have had difficult or broken relationships with. He is a bridge builder.
I think of people from other cultures, who are very different from us in how we think or do life and the love He can put in our hearts. God gives us insight, and through Him love grows and relationships are born. It is a wondrous thing to behold and to experience.
I look back over the years and the experiences I have had. Like the time I had to meet someone who had hurt me deeply, and the love I had for that person was in short supply. I prayed and asked God to fill me with His love and He did exactly that! A bridge was built when there was none just hours before. The Lord, through His love, is a bridge builder.
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13
Are you in need of an excellent bridge builder today? God is able to build bridges where and when no one else can. Ask Him!
Dear Father,
Thank you for being the best bridge builder in the whole world! I praise You and thank You. Fill me again with Your love. I need it so desperately. Thank You, Father.
In Jesus Name,
Amen
